Health Care Means More Pain


I hate to give the Senate caucus of either party a pat on the back but the fact that NOT ONE republican senator voted for the health care bill will serve the GOP well. This is not a prediction it is a promise. Selah!

Being Thankful Even When Things Are Crazy


As we approach Thanksgiving I need to remind myself that there are so many things to be thankful for.
I hope you find time to count the blessings in your life and thank God for them.
Thanks to my family and friends for putting up with me.
If you are traveling be safe! Remember our women and men in uniform, remember the poor, remember the ones who are ill...be thankful!
Thank you God for the blessings you have given me, my family and my country.
Oh, if you eat too much turkey you still have a few years to be able to squeeze into the ER before the Barry Health Care plan is enacted. If you have money left over after taxes you can even pay the bill.

Health Care Bill WILL Hurt America and Dems


I must apologize for being so timid about the health care bill that will have a cloture vote tonight. I always want to be fair and have held my tongue because I didn't want to be mistaken for a republican stooge. By the way I am anything but a republican stooge. I am a conservative and only a registered republican. Well, I don't care who I offend. This issue is VERY serious. First of all those rat bastards and I mean all of them regardless of party affiliation should be punished for outright dishonesty and if not dishonesty than most assuredly for stupidity. Just the fact that they are doing this under the cover of darkness should tip you off that all is not well.
In all of the most recent polls this health care bill is only a couple more points more popular than Hillary care was. Hillary care was radioactive to say the least. Congress and President Barry don't care what their bosses think. We are their bosses. The Democrats in the most optimistic polls have 3 out of ten people that support this bill in its current form-but they are gonna do all they can to jam a cloture vote through on a Saturday night. By the way we have to start paying for this bill as soon as it passes-funny thing is that the benefits of the bill (if you want to call them benefits) wont start for three years.
This bill is so expensive that it is insane and hard to believe. Of course it may be hard to get an exact cost because not many people have read the whole bill.
The health care system in America is not perfect but it is the best system in the world. The free market is the only system that works. Why don't we pass a sensible bill that fixes the exclusion for pre existing conditions? There is nothing wrong with passing common sense legislation that brings more people coverage. But we cannot throw many millions of people into an already overburdened system and not expect problems. I am no genius but obviously prices will go up and care will suffer.
We must stand up and tell those guys in DC that if they vote for this that we will make sure they are never elected to any office again. This bill just doesn't make sense. Talk about throwing the baby out with bath water...
The government ALWAYS underestimates costs...always. Lets use our heads instead of being lured into passivity by spurious claims of this bill being compassionate. It is not compassionate it is stupid. Compassion is fighting for a bill that wont break our country and doing what we can personally to help. When was the last time you offered to help a friend with their bills? Compassion comes from people not the government in almost every case. Big government does not fix problems it makes it worse.
In addition to all of the above the congress and Barry out to make jobs and the economy the number one priority (after national security) not a health care bill that only 30% of registered voters are in favor of.
And yes if this does pass democrats will pay a huge price at the ballot box in 2010.
If you are for this bill rest easy because Harry Reid is leading the way and thought ought to comfort you!

And You thought Bill Belichick Made A Crazy Call?

After watching Bill Belichick decide to go for it on 4th down last night and subsequently loosing to the Colts I thought I had witnessed the dumbest decision that a human could make in quite a while. However, his decision really harmed no one. I am afraid that the decision to send Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to NYC to stand trial may.

This decision is so insane it borders on reckless. I suppose the only up side that may possibly come of this is that after hearing testimony from the killer himself how he planned and executed the murderous attack on 9/11 the few folks who still claim that this was a conspiracy hatched by the American government or the Jews will now have to argue with KSM.

I have no problem with KSM being tried before we hang him-of course that is if he is found guilty. I have no fear of him not being convicted. I do fear that this trial of KSM and four other co-conspirators in NYC is a security risk not only to the people of NYC but may also turn into an event that does nothing other than give this animal and his cause a lot of press-which by the way is EXACTLY what he wants.

He needs to be tried by the military. Being tried by the military is not as fair as a Federal trial. However, a military tribunal is the only proper place that an enemy combatant should be tried. There are many reasons for that. Not the least of which is the protection of key witnesses and intelligence gathering techniques. KSM gave up any right he had to being treated like a "normal" criminal when he decided to take up arms against the United States.

I would also say that because he is being tried in Federal court he MUST be afforded the exact same rights that any person in the justice system is afforded. If we don't treat him EXACTLY the same we are making our own justice system look like a kangaroo court. I am the first to admit that I don't like the idea of military tribunals. The UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) is a blunt instrument. But, only people who meet certain qualifications can be tried in this system-ya know like the types of people that attack two skyscrapers as well as the Pentagon and if the folks on United 93 didn't act heroically there would have been another building destroyed as well. It is for those reasons that my heart isn't broken about seeing KSM being tried by the military. For God's sake this guy is as much of an enemy of the state as can possibly exist.

It must be noted too that by treating KSM "justly" will not cause the US to be thought of as any different by our enemies. They already hate us. They hate you whether you read the Huffington Post or are a Republican lap dog-they could care less. They hate us because we are Americans and no reasoning with them will ever change that fact.

I also think drawing a pool of civilian residents of NYC may actually place some of their lives in danger. This is a serious decision with many possible implications. It looks like the decision has been made but it is a poor one.

Republican, Democrat or Freedom or Crazy Bald Man

Ok thousands of people write the BOSMOS headquarters and ask me what political party I am part of. I just spoke with a lady who said that I was " a moving target..." I hear that my views are not cogent or consistent. I would submit they are VERY consistent and that is what bothers people. I try not to think in terms of party platforms but on the basis of what I believe is the best for our nation. I am called a bleeding heart liberal and war mongering conservative very frequently. Truth be told I am a registered republican.

This is the deal. The issues today are not the the actual issues facing this country. Healthcare reform, taxes, gambling, gun control, medical marijuana, private property rights, etc are just side issues. I am not an anarchist at all. But if something doesn't directly violate the rights (not desires) of others I believe that you should be free to participate in that activity. The main issue facing this nation is the loss of freedom that we are experiencing. This country is great for many reasons but the main one is that we are free. Free to speak, free to love, free to hate, free to make money, free to give money away, free to worship the God of our choice or no God at all. It is all about freedom. It is freedom after all that leads to wealth, peace, morality and more freedom.

We must be careful in our collective to desire to "do the right thing" that we don't take from ourselves the freedom that so many have sacrificed for.

Lets please focus on freedom rather than issues.

And the Winner Is...


OK well the people have spoken. Thank you to all of those who voted yesterday or via mail in ballot. For those of you that didn't vote you are banned from complaining about anything that your vote could have changed (yes, this trumps the first amendment-I asked the Constitution Czar)
Issue 1-Bonuses for Vets. This issue passed. According to the Dispatch it may take more than a year for the troops to get their checks. Why doesn't it take that long for the state to send you a bill?
Issue 2-Livestock Care Board. This issue passed. This sailed through with almost 65% of the vote.
Issue 3-Casinos in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo. This issue passed. This issue passed quite easily although it was defeated in Franklin County. Estimates are that construction will begin in 2010 with wagering by 2012. I cant wait to visit one of these places.
Heath and Chillicothe residents vote to limit red light "spy" cameras. The scary thing is that these votes were actually close.
School Tax Issues-Southwestern passed, Westerville passed, Worthington passed, Reynoldsburg did NOT pass.

President Barry is Not Having A Good day


I plan on updating the blog vis-a-vis our local Ohio issues but I have to say that no matter what kind of jive you hear on the state controlled media today the President is not in a good mood today. The results of the elections in New Jersey and Virginia are a slap in the face to the Barry administration-dont let them sell you on the idea that the administration doesnt really care.


I also must say this is not rare. Presidents come up on the sad side of off year elections frequently. Hang in there Barry-there is always next year!

Is God Dead?


Every once in a while a great debate pops up. Many of you may be familiar with Christopher Hitchens-the professional atheist. He is a brilliant guy. He has made his debate about God, the church and morality with Pastor Douglas Wilson a video now that is available on Amazon. The title is "Collision."

Why would I promote an atheist and his arguments against God?

1. Its not just the atheist argument. Pastor Wilson argues for God.
2. It is a great example of a polite debate.
3. These types of arguments strengthen the argument for God and the gospel they do not harm them.

Voting Time is Another Shot at Freedom


This coming Tuesday is another voting day. Even though this is an off cycle year for the folks on the Hill in Washington many Gubernatorial seats are up for grabs as well as many local issues.


I would like to suggest that when you go into the voting booth next week you ponder how each of your votes affect our freedom. Freedom is a hard pill to swallow for many of us.


Websters defines freedom as: 1 : the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : independence c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous


Freedom means that people will make choices that we would not. It even means that people will make wrong choices. I believe that a loss of freedom is a much more dangerous proposition than individual issues passing that we may not personally agree with. Without freedom we loose much of what makes America the best country on this planet.


Freedom has boundaries. For example freedom does not mean that you can do ANYTHING. In a nutshell freedom means that you as an individual should be allowed to do whatever you would like to do as long as you are of consenting age for said activity and as long as your freedom does not harm another or take away their power to exercise their constitutionally recognized right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This is why many freedom lovers can vote pro life and still have their "freedom credentials" remain cogent. Abortion, for example violates the rights of the unborn so in that case freedom is trumped or should be due to the rights of the unborn to seek life, liberty and happiness.


As a Christian I believe that we ought to be careful for example when we allow the government to take away or limit the rights of groups that we don't agree with. Anytime freedom is taken from anyone it makes the same freedom much easier to be taken away from another individual or group of people much easier.


I believe that the God of the Bible is the best example of a freedom lover. He has given us free will and as a country whose Constitution and founding documents are based on a reflection of the commands and principles of the Bible it does us well to consider freedom and an individuals choice and opportunity to exercise freedom when we go into the voting booth.


So think about the issues that are relevant to you and those you love. Talk to friends and trusted advisers. Most importantly vote this Tuesday. Enjoy the text below-many people have sacrified a whole lot to allow these principles to be afforded to the citizens of this great country.

A Hilliard middle-school teacher has been arrested on federal charges of possessing and distributing child pornography on the Internet.
Michael S. Highman, 43, of Upper Arlington, was placed on paid administrative leave from his job at Weaver Middle School when district officials learned about the investigation Friday, district spokeswoman Carrie Bartunek said yesterday.
He teaches health and physical education and coaches the eighth-grade boys' basketball team at the middle school on Avery Road.
Highman was arrested Monday. Members of the FBI Columbus Cybercrimes Task Force searched his home at 2336 Johnston Rd. on Thursday, FBI special agent Harry Trombitas said.
FBI agents investigating child-pornography Web sites identified Highman as sharing nearly 200,000 images on a site in June, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Agents who searched the house found numerous computers and electronic storage devices with thousands of images and videos of prepubescent boys engaged in sexual acts.
During the search, Highman admitted to agents that he has collected and traded child pornography "for several years," according to an affidavit filed by FBI agent Evan Pridham, a member of the task force.
Highman's Columbus lawyer, Mark C. Collins, said the charges do not include allegations that his client produced any of the images.
"There is no indication of any production or use of any material involving any minors in the central Ohio area," Collins said yesterday.
Hilliard Superintendent Dale A. McVey informed district parents about the charges yesterday in an e-mail, expressing concern about the allegations and saying that Highman "has been directed to have no contact of any kind with students."
"No evidence has been shared with us that any Hilliard City Schools student is involved in the allegations against Mr. Highman," McVey wrote.
Highman was in federal court on Monday. U.S. Magistrate Judge Norah McCann King released him on electronic monitoring pending indictment.
"He is cooperating with local law enforcement and the U.S. attorney's office in every respect," Collins said.
Distribution of child pornography is punishable by at least five years and up to 20 years in prison. Possession of child pornography is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Good Day at Office for Brady


Every one in a while you are lucky enough to witness something very special. I know a stellar performance by a quarterback in the NFL is not a life and death issue. That is exactly why we can marvel in it. It is the beauty that only the NFL or other high level athletic competition can bring. Man at his best...almost perfect.

Greg Gutfeld Says it Better




TUESDAY'S GREGALOGUE: THE AL SHARPTON HISTORY MINUTE
So sometimes, these Gregalogues write themselves.
I speak tonight of Al Sharpton, who just attacked Rush Limbaugh's attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams (I believe it's tetherball), sending a letter to commissioner Roger Goodell, saying the wildly popular conservative host has been "divisive."
Divisive.
Now, I made a decision late in my odd career that any time Al Sharpton would enter the fray and make a charge like that, I would act as a one-man "Al Sharpton Historian." My role: to give you background as to why there is no one on the planet less mentally or morally fit to make a statement about race (or anything, for that matter) than Al.
In a nutshell, he was largely responsible for the Tawana Brawley hoax. Now, if you were born in the 1980's, you probably never heard about this 15-year-old black girl, but she went missing for four days back in 1987, eventually turning up covered in dog poop with racial slurs written all over her. She claimed she was repeatedly raped by up to six white men in the woods. One of them even had a badge. The then unknown and obese Al Sharpton saw an opportunity for quick fame (he was dead right on that one, by the by) and became an advisor to Brawley. Sharpton and his pals manipulated the event to horrific, freakish proportions, claiming Brawley had been raped 33 times by one prosecutor. Al also helped conjure up a conspiracy involving a creepy police cult that helped perpetrate the gang rape. But there was never any evidence, and the case fell apart. A grand jury called it all a hoax - and Sharpton was order to pay roughly 70 grand to the real victims. Others paid it for him.
So that concludes our "Al Sharpton History Minute."
For the next "Al Sharpton History Minute," wait patiently for a month or so – and whenever some kind of racial controversy arises, he'll pop up like a blister, there to inflame but never heal.
At least he had good taste in track suits.

RUSH TO JUDGEMENT-SHARPTON IS A FOOL


Ok so those who know me know that I love the NFL. People also know that I love Rush Limbaugh. I don't always agree with him but I love him. He is incredibly witty, seems to have a political crystal ball and I am not alone: no radio host even comes close to the ratings of Rush. On a side note I am not sure how Rush pulls those numbers since no one likes him and he is so out of touch with the American public. I am not generally in the habit of defending people in this blog but I must speak now or my head will explode.
In a nutshell Rush Limbaugh is part of an investment group that has expressed interest in buying the St. Louis Rams. Al Sharpton the king of race baiting and divisiveness has sent a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell objecting to this interest. Can I just say that I think the proof is in the pudding as far as what the right thing to do is.
Limbaugh is a legitimate business man who wants to sink money in a town that cant fill seats and has a team that is just as bad as the Chiefs. That hurts to say because I love the Chiefs.
This is just so absurd on the face of it. Lets hope the NFL uses it brain instead of the broken back bone that Sharpton is rallying for. Until people start to say NO to insane actions like that of Sharpton we will all be held captive by political correctness and political correctness of the worst kind:the kind that has NO truth to it at all.
I think Mr. Sharpton should examine his motives. He is not a man that is into healing racial division. In addition he is not even a man who answers his mail. One time my son saw Sharpton in the Adam Sandler movie MR. DEEDS. I wrote to Sharpton at least ten times asking for a picture for my then six year old son. I never received one response. Sharpton is probably too busy to reply. But just for the record I have signed pictures from several Presidents, Senators and various other people who are just as busy as Sharpton. Well I know Sharpton is busy righting racial wrongs...give me a break. Has the whole world gone insane?

Leave My Guns Alone

THE STATE OF MICHIGAN TELLS MOM WHO SHE CAN BABYSIT


IRVING TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood's children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.
Regulators who oversee child care, however, don't see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.
"I was freaked out. I was blown away," she said. "I got on the phone immediately, called my husband, then I called all the girls" — that is, the mothers whose kids she watches — "every one of them."
Snyder's predicament has led to a debate in Michigan about whether a law that says no one may care for unrelated children in their home for more than four weeks each calendar year unless they are licensed day-care providers needs to be changed. It also has irked parents who say they depend on such friendly offers to help them balance work and family.
On Tuesday, agency Director Ismael Ahmed said good neighbors should be allowed to help each other ensure their children are safe. Gov. Jennifer Granholm instructed Ahmed to work with the state Legislature to change the law, he said.
"Being a good neighbor means helping your neighbors who are in need," Ahmed said in a written statement. "This could be as simple as providing a cup of sugar, monitoring their house while they're on vacation or making sure their children are safe while they wait for the school bus."
Snyder learned that the agency was responding to a neighbor's complaint.
Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd said the agency was following standard procedure in its response. "But we feel this (law) really gets in the way of common sense," Boyd said.
"We want to protect kids, but the law needs to be reasonable," she said. "When the governor learned of this, she acted quickly and called the director personally to ask him to intervene."
State Rep. Brian Calley, R-Portland, said he was working to draft legislation that would exempt situations like Snyder's from coverage under Michigan's current day care regulations.
The bill will make it clear that people who aren't in business as day care providers don't need to be licensed, Calley said.
"These are just kids that wait for the bus every morning," he said. "This is not a day care."
Snyder, 35, lives in a rural subdivision in Barry County's Irving Township about 25 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. Her tidy, comfortable three-bedroom home is a designated school bus stop. The three neighbor children she watched — plus Snyder's first-grader, Grace — attend school about six miles away in Middleville.
Snyder said she started watching the other children this school year to help her friends; they often baby-sit for each other during evenings and weekends.
After receiving the state agency's letter, she said she called the agency and tried to explain that she wasn't running a day care center or accepting money from her friends.
Under state law, no one may care for unrelated children in their home for more than four weeks each calendar year unless they are licensed day-care providers. Snyder said she stopped watching the other children immediately after receiving the letter, which was well within the four-week period.
"I've lived in this community for 35 years and everyone I know has done some form of this," said Francie Brummel, 42, who would drop off her second-grade son, Colson, before heading to her job as deputy treasurer of the nearby city of Hastings.
Other moms say they regularly deal with similar situations.
Amy Cowan, 34, of Grosse Pointe Farms, a Detroit suburb, said she often takes turns with her sister, neighbor and friend watching each other's children.
"The worst part of this whole thing, with the state of the economy ... two parents have to work," said Cowan, a corporate sales representative with a 5-year-old son and 11-month-old daughter. "When you throw in the fact that the state is getting involved, it gives women a hard time for going back to work.
"I applaud the lady who takes in her neighbors' kids while they're waiting for the bus. She's enabling her peers to go to work and get a paycheck. The state should be thankful for that."
Amy Maciaszek, 42, of McHenry, Ill., who works in direct sales, said she believes the state agency was "trying to be overprotective."
"I think it does take a village and that's the best way," said Maciaszek, who has a 6-year-old boy and twin 3-year-old daughters. "Unfortunately you do have to be careful about that. These mothers are trying to do the right thing."

Bank of Stupidity!


Gaffney, South Carolina is a small town with about 14,000 residents in the upstate of South Carolina.
Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes is a young marine-now dead. He gave his life in Afghanistan.
Bank of America is an institution with egg on its face.
I want to make a long story short. A local branch manager removed American flags that were placed on the lawn of the bank as it was on the route of the funeral procession for Lance Corporal Fowlkes. The manager made the decision based on her understanding of Bank of Americas policy. In fairness B of A has no policy against the American flag. It is flown in most of its branches.
My point is that in order for a young lady of this mental caliber to be a branch manager of a bank of this size the bank must be hiring people that are just plain stupid. These are the type of folks that you talk to when there has been an error in your checking account. Good luck!

Lets Race!


David Gregory talks to Eugene Robinson and Roger Simon about the elephant in the room...the fact that we have a black president. Liberals give the President way too much credit because of his skin color and conservatives are the polar opposite. We are back, joined now by Eugene Robinson of The Washington Post and Roger Selman -- Simon.
Welcome to both of you. A lot to talk about, certainly.
Gene, the president made news in this interview in a few different areas. One is he pointedly disagreed with Jimmy Carter on the question of race. It's clear the, the White House does not want to have that conversation about race. But you'd like to, and you wrote about it this week. And the title of the column is "Jimmy Carter Did Us All A Favor." You wrote in part, "It seems clear to me that some -- but not an `overwhelming portion,' as [Jimmy] Carter claimed -- of the `intensely demonstrated animosity' toward Obama is indeed `based on the fact that he is a black man.' ... Of course it's possible to reject Obama's policies and philosophy without being racist. But there's a particular nasty edge to the most vitriolic attacks -- a rejection not of Obama's programs but of his legitimacy as president. ... I'm talking about the crazy `birthers.' I'm talking about the nitwits who arrive at protest rallies bearing racially offensive caricatures ... idiots who toss around words like `socialism' to make Obama seem alien and even more dangerous. ... I look forward to the day when we can look past race. But before we can do so, we need to look at race and see it clearly. Jimmy Carter did us a favor." And yet the president says that this topic of race is like catnip for those of us in the media.
Yeah. What -- well, what newspaper or Web site does Jimmy Carter report for? I mean, he's a former president, he's not the media. He brought this up. And
I'm glad that he did, because I do think there is an edge to the criticism that is related to race. And I don't think it's the totality of the, of the attacks on Obama. The country is concerned about the economy, about -- over government spending, the -- legitimately concerned about a lot of things. But this question of legitimacy, the question that, that somehow he doesn't deserve to be there and it's, it's -- you know, we had this wonderful kind of warm national feeling in January during the inauguration, and I think there is, there is a core, a nut, a, a group on the far right, but wherever you want to put them on the spectrum, that has difficulty accepting him as president.
But Bush faced questions of legitimacy, Clinton faced questions of legitimacy as well.
They did. But, you know, it was, it was a little different. For, for those on the left, once we got past the question of, of Bush v. Gore and the Supreme Court decision...
There are a lot of people who never got past it.
Well, well some people never got past it, but relatively few. I think, I think for the, for the majority on the left it, it, it became more of, "I can't believe people voted for this guy."
Hm.
And "I can't believe they voted for him again," rather than "This guy does not have the right to occupy the Oval Office because there's something illegitimate about, about him as president."
Roger, you wrote in a column on Friday, you know, "Extreme feelings can be based on other things than race. People can act rudely and not be racists."
Yeah. And, and, and one of the few times I think I disagree with Gene. I, I think it is important to talk about race, and there's certainly racism out there. I think Jimmy Carter did it in the wrong way. I think it was not a teachable moment, it was an in-your-face moment. Jimmy Carter apparently believes if something is worth stating, it's worth overstating. When Barack Obama campaigned for president, he talked about his days of campaigning for the Senate in Illinois and would go down to southern Illinois, white, conservative, sometimes hostile; he didn't begin his speeches by saying, "The overwhelming majority of you are racists, but here's my plans for education, health care and the environment." He would say, "Look, here's who I am. Here's my plans for health care and education and the environment. Together, you and I can build a better future for ourselves and our children." And some people went away from those speeches thinking, "Well, this guy isn't a bad guy. Maybe, maybe I should go for this guy." That's a teachable moment. You can win people over. Some people you can't win over. Maybe the birthers you can never win over. Some of the crazies with disgusting signs you can't win over. But to simply despise people and to dismiss them as all a bunch of racists does not crate a helpful atmosphere in this country or one where you genuinely can heal the wounds, which I think is what we're talking about.
Final thought on this?
Yeah, my thought is we're not that far apart in that I don't believe that all the critics are racist. I do believe, however, that it is in the interest of the legitimate and honorable critics of the president to, to distance themselves from those who are not. And it may be a small group, I hope it's, I hope it's a tiny, a vanishingly small group, but it's there. And, and, and I, I, I think we do ourselves a disservice and do the country a disservice if we ignore it.
There's another portion of this interview having to do with the role of government as the fuel for this opposition, and I want to play that portion from the president again, because I think it's important. Watch this.

I think you actually put your finger on what this argument's really about, and it's an argument that's gone on for the history of this republic. And that is what's the right role of government? How do we balance freedom with our need to look after one another?

And, Roger, it seems to me that the president is in a position where he's got to sort of own the argument on government being the solution. Is he doing a good enough job of selling government as the solution at a time -- you think back to the Bush administration, competence, effectiveness in government was huge.
Now, I, I think what the president is addressing is a, is a, is a theme, is a movement that started or was encapsulated by Ronald Reagan, who taught us all that big government is bad. It is necessarily bad. The most dangerous words in the English language is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." That's the opposite of what Barack Obama believes. He believes big problems require big government solutions, that government can be a positive force, a force for good. That is who he is. And if he can't sell that, then he cannot sell his presidency.
I, I agree. And, and I think -- what I think the White House has not done a good enough job at is, is pointing out that the government already is a solution to a lot of big problems. And so when people show up at town halls with Medicare cards in their pocket and say, "I don't want any sort of government healthcare plan," there's a contradiction there. And I think there, there, there, there should have been way, or there should be a way for the White House to point out the ways in which government is involved in people's lives and to, to their benefit.
The question of the media blitz and overexposure. Full disclosure here, I don't sign up to the overexposure thing since I've got my requests in to interview the president. But, Roger, what do you think he has achieved, can achieve?
I think the most difficult thing -- when he complains about the media attention to race and to bad things and, you know, catnip to the media, I think the worst thing the media -- we're very bad at averting our eyes. We're very bad at not gawking at the car wreck, because fundamentally revealing things and not concealing things is what we do. And when -- we largely get in trouble for keeping stories from the public, not presenting them to the public. And I think
the White House is OK with catnip, as long as they're feeding the cat. You know, as long as the cat is purring and rubbing up against them, I'm speaking metaphorically here, the White House is only too happy to have it. And in terms of the media blitz, you know, this -- if this guy can't handle five 15-minute interviews, he ought not to be president. I think he does fine on media blitzes.
He's out there every day.
Yeah.
I mean, he's out there very day. He's on, on five shows this morning. He's everywhere. And to then turn around and say, well, you know, the media is somehow paying too much attention to anything, I think is, is -- there's a disconnect there, so.
OK, a couple of political notes I want to get to. The front page of The New York Times today, Roger, saying that the White House is trying to get involved in the New York governors race, that the president himself approved the decision to try to get Governor Paterson not to run again.
This is a bit shocking on two fronts.
Mm-hmm.
One, that it's so nakedly political that the president is involving himself in a, you know, in the politics of another state, as is perfectly right to do so. He is the leader of the Democratic Party. But he hasn't done that a lot. He hasn't acted as party leader, he's acted as president. Secondly, he -- there are only two black governors in the country. Paterson is one of them. I think there have only been three in the history of the United States. And Barack Obama is asking him to stand down, apparently in the favor of a white candidate, Andrew Cuomo. There may be some backlash on that.
About 30 seconds left, Gene. Republicans, Mike Huckabee; he wins the straw poll for 2012 at the Values Voter Summit. Is he poised for a comeback here?
Well, among the, you know, the social conservatives, the values voters, pro- life, Huckabee is their guy. I think he, he gave a great presentation to them and they like him. I think these are early days and we haven't heard the last from Mitt, Mitt Romney.
Were you struck by Paterson?
The Paterson thing does strike me, yes. And it, it's quite interesting. This is a political president. He campaigned for Arlen Specter, if you recall, last week against his primary opponent in Pennsylvania. So he wants to be the leader of the party.

Sounds like a tax to me


If you paid any attention to President Obama on the Sunday shows this week you would have heard him say that the plan in the Baucus bill to require people to get health insurance does not amount to a tax.


Please see quote from the bill itself: "The consequence of not maintaining health insurance would be an excise tax." That is from page 29 of the bill.


Lets all be honest...if it looks like a tax and smells like a tax it is a tax.

Damn Proud! Get Your Jack Boot Off of My Neck!


I am damn proud to be an American. This is the best country on the face of Gods green earth. In the spirit of Independence I have a few things to say:
1. If you are a crazy Korean dictator you better be careful because you are a heartbeat away from you getting pimped slapped just like a scene from Starsky and Hutch.
2. I don't care if you don't like the things that I believe. As I said it is America and I say I will speak loudly and proudly and by the way I will never tell you to shut up-ya know because it is America!
3. I love the phrase DON'T TREAD ON ME
4. I am sick and tired of more taxes-quit stealing my money and using fear tactics to convince my less than thinking friends to just give the government more money to waste.
5. I love my wife and kids!
6. We need more freedom. Freedom is never a bad thing and anyone that tells you it is ALWAYS wants to take some of your freedom away in some manner.
7. I am grateful that even in a slow economy we have food, medicine, air conditioning and beer.
8. I like Rush Limbaugh and David Gregory-figure that one out!

There Ought To Be A Law

TOLEDO, Ohio - Although not outlined in the city charter, a city memo has allowed workers with the city of Toledo’s Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor to issue parking citations to citizens.
It was learned over the weekend that Susan Frederick, acting commissioner with streets, bridges and harbor, fined several motorists for parking in their driveways on Holland-Sylvania near Dorr Street.
"I've lived here 43 years and last Thursday we had our 44th wedding anniversary," said Charles Robertson, who received a parking violation. "I got a present from the city. Isn't that nice?"
Residents' vehicles were parked on a turn-around portion of their driveway in front of their property, something they need to safely get out of their drive on Holland-Sylvania, which, at times, can be busy.
Megan Robson, spokesperson for Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, released a statement to the media Monday evening.
"The Commissioner of Streets, Bridges and Harbor responded by going to the location of the complaint to assess whether it was valid or not," Robson said in the statement. "She personally observed that it was a valid complaint. She observed several illegally parked vehicles along the first street she visited."
"While there, a neighbor asked her to check out his street, which also had a number of illegally parked vehicles. Once she observed they too were illegally parked, she cited them as well. The City of Toledo supports its laws in general and illegally parked vehicles can and will be ticketed, and these tickets are considered valid."
The city fined residents $25.
Mayor Finkbeiner said residents who were ticketed in fact broke the law for parking on a part of a drive that was not paved. He stood by Frederick, who wrote the violations.
"Every law in the city should be enforced and I will defer to the director over the media, that's for dag-gone sure," Mayor Finkbeiner said Monday during a news conference for the city's latest model block project. "I will not second guess her because more times than not she's right and the citizens that are criticizing her are not right."
"He made the statement that more times than not we are the ones that are wrong," said Shelly Cousino, who also received a parking violation ticket. "What we were wrong in doing is electing him again."
Councilman Collins met with residents and collected the tickets. He assured the problem would be resolved. He said Tuesday that the tickets were an abuse of power.

I have loved tacos since I can remember. Not the American tacos from the Bell or any other restaurant. I am talking about the tacos that are found on the Taco trucks. My wife and I are from LA and wherever we have lived we have sought out the glorious "truck of the Gods." I have to admit that Columbus Ohio has some good taco trucks. These are genuine tacos too!

A Simple Solution and Hopefully A Final One

Alleged Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk has avoided immediate deportation to stand trial for being an accessory to 29,000 killings at the Sobibor death camp in Poland during WWII. In simple terms he is accused of being a Nazi goon.

I am a compassionate man and we are a compassionate nation. Here is my simple and hopefully final solution:


1. Get a medical plane
2. Bring a medical team to keep him comfortable during his journey
3. Try him quickly
4. If he is guilty then you hang him
5. If he is not guilty than no harm no foul

Personally I think he should be tried in Israel but that is just me.

The US Navy SEALS took out three pirates with three shots in high seas in pitch black conditions. I just gotta say that that is bad ass! Captain Richard Phillips is free andon on his way toward home. God bless Captain phillips and God Bless those SEALS! By the way the crew of the Maersk Alabama is due a blessing too!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!


Today is opening day for the Columbus Clippers. The Clippers get to play in their brand new stadium in just a few more days!. I cant wait to go check it out. The ticket prices are really affordable too. I plan on checking it out many times this summer.
